The Talbiyah

What are the steps of Hajj day by day?
Day 1 (8th Dhul Hijjah): Enter ihram, go to Mina, pray shortened prayers. Day 2 (9th - Arafah): Stand at Arafah from noon to sunset (the most important pillar). Day 3 (10th - Eid): Stone Jamarat al-Aqaba, sacrifice animal, shave/trim hair, perform Tawaf al-Ifadah and Sa'i. Days 4-5 (11th-12th): Stay in Mina, stone all three Jamarat each day. Final: Tawaf al-Wada' (farewell tawaf) before leaving Mecca.
What should I pack for Hajj?
Essential items: ihram garments (2 white unstitched cloths for men), comfortable walking sandals, money belt, small Quran, dua book, basic toiletries (unscented), medications, sunscreen, umbrella, reusable water bottle, and copies of your documents. Avoid perfumed products while in ihram. Pack light, you'll be walking a lot.
How do I wear ihram?
For men: Wrap the lower cloth (izar) around your waist and the upper cloth (rida) over your left shoulder, leaving the right shoulder exposed during tawaf. Wear sandals that expose the ankles. For women: Regular modest clothing is the ihram, no specific garment required, but the face and hands should remain uncovered (according to most scholars).
What is the difference between Hajj and Umrah?
Hajj is the annual major pilgrimage performed during specific dates in Dhul Hijjah (8th-13th), it is one of the five pillars of Islam and obligatory once in a lifetime for those who are able. Umrah is a "lesser pilgrimage" that can be performed any time of year. Umrah includes only Tawaf and Sa'i, while Hajj adds Arafah, Muzdalifah, Mina, and stoning rituals.
